rushing about
wearing ourselves out
or expensive gifts under the tree.
Christmas isn’t …
over drinking
over thinking
or overeating until we can’t see
(our toes, that is).
Christmas isn’t ...
carols & lights
snow & cold nights
or special programs on TV.
No, Christmas is not these things for me.
What Christmas is …
is a silent glance
from eyes you know
from one whose love
to you each day shows.
What Christmas is …
is a passing touch,
a gentle kiss, a soft caress,
a listening heart,
a tender word spoken to bless.
What Christmas is …
is Life that’s shared
with someone who cares
who knows and believes
in all you can be.
What Christmas is …
is You and Me.
